You know that feeling when you have a crush on someone. I think that’s the best feeling in the world. They could be a total stranger and they could totally rock your world. Suddenly the sun shines brighter when you see them and the air is fresher around them. You just can’t wait to see them and when you do you are extremely happy. You might even do a little dance. You sometimes might be unable to form a sentence just because you’re in owe of them.
If you’re like me you might end up telling them anything and everything about anything and everything. You just want to talk to them, endulge them. You look at them as they speak, you see things you would hardly see if it was just a random person. Somehow you notice specific features. They fascinate you. You’re in owe of their existance. You see no wrong in them. You begin to be obsessed by little things they do. You anticipate these little things. You might even watch them for hours just to see it. You make little mental notes.
Even though they might be completely unaware of your existance you constantly keep tabs on them. You could write a whole memoir. You know every little detail about them or rather you know the persona they let the world meet. You like to watch them. You think to yourself that it might be a little obsessive but you still do it. You get a little thrill just doing it. Today could be the day they notice you. They could look your way.
You know you are not in love because you really don’t know them and it would be absurd, but sometimes you think you are. You are utterly blown away by the image you have created of this person. You imagine them in your life. How they would say your name. What you would call them. What they would think of the pet name you’d pick out for them. You would probably be mature and just call them by their name. You spend hours thinking about how good you two would be for each other. You are delusional but atleast it keeps you happy.
You smile at the thought of you two having a meal. You think of the words they will use to ask you out. Will they call or will they text. You practice on how to act if they ever do. If it’s lunch on a Saturday it has to be within 2 weeks notice, you have to seem busy. It’s not like you think about them all the time. If it’s dinner on a week day you will politely decline and suggest a weekend, you dont want them to think you allow people to just pop in plans on your already busy weekdays. You plan every single detail, except the date. You have outfits planned out. That is if they ever ask you out.
When they don’t seem to notice you, you encourage yourself. You say you don’t mind being in the background to feel better. You watch as their life goes on. You wonder what episode of their life you will get to be a part of. You long for the day you will be a main character. You prepare for your role. You are happy just imagining it. You live in your thoughts.
One day you are shopping listening to your favourite artist. You’re in your on world and they walk past you. Noticing you, they circle back to say hello. Your heart skips, finally they’ve seen me. One thing leads to another and you get to know them. You are compare notes. The image you had of them is nothing like them. Sadly you don’t like who they are, you liked the image in your mind. The one you created.
You suddenly don’t feel that feeling anymore. You don’t know what it is but you are not excited anymore. You’re first date was nothing like you had hoped for. You most definitely do not want to go on another date and you most definitely won’t be calling them by any pet names. All over sudden, everything around them is so dull. Nothing about them amuses you. You wonder what that was all about. Before you know it, it happens again with someone different. You know how it goes but you tell yourself it feels different this time. And suddenly you’re in a loop!
